About

My name is Georgina and I am the proud owner of Planet Dog. For many years I worked as a teacher of English Literature, first in the UK and then at International Schools in the Philippines, Vietnam, and Indonesia. I eventually changed my land-based classroom for the ocean and worked as a scuba diving instructor in both South and Southeast Asia. However, my love of dogs finally took over and I qualified as a dog trainer with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers (Distinction) and as a behaviourist with Compass Education (Level 5, Distinction) and The International School for Canine Psychology and Behaviour (Level 6, Distinction). In addition, I am trained in Canine First Aid and also have a Diploma in Canine Nutrition & Health, also from The ISCP (Level 5, Distinction).

In addition to my dog training and behaviour qualifications, I am also a Dynamic Dog Practitioner (Distinction), which means that I am trained in how to spot potential pain and discomfort in dogs and am able to pass relevant observations on to a vet so that any issues can be investigated further by a medical professional. This is a vital component of the work that I do with dogs, since pain can affect behaviour but is often easily missed in dogs.

Having worked as a volunteer in various dog shelters (both in the UK and abroad) and also having my own rescue dog, I understand how important it is to be able to listen effectively to what our dogs are saying and to set up the environment in such a way that they are able to thrive. I believe that we owe it to our dogs to train them kindly and to help them to co-exist happily with us whilst also being loved and respected for the individuals that they are.

I am a firm believer in meeting the various needs of our dogs as a way of ensuring that they can live their best lives with us: this involves a clear understanding of canine body language, the provision of physical as well as mental enrichment, setting time aside for bonding activities, ensuring that they are not experiencing discomfort, and appreciating and respecting that dogs are individual animals with their own needs and desires. Here at Planet Dog you will learn how to be an even better friend to your best friend and we would be honoured to help you on that journey.
